Built in the 13th century from local salt and mud-brick (kershef), Shali Fortress once served as the protective heart of Siwa Oasis. Its towering ruins overlook the town and offer panoramic views of the surrounding desert and palm groves. Though partially eroded by time and rain, the fortress remains a symbol of Siwa’s rich heritage and resilience.
